Five Reunionese startups represented the island at VivaTech 2026, Europe's largest technology trade show, in Paris from June 17 to 20. A fourth consecutive appearance, supported by the Réunion Region, La Réunion Innovation and French Tech Réunion.
Five Companies, Five Growth Sectors
The 2026 delegation brings together five complementary profiles: AgentVox (AI-powered conversational agents for customer relations), Eyako (cybersecurity platform for IT managers), FIT.ai (real-time parking availability prediction), MediaBy (AI-driven media buying platform) and MoSITouch (mosquito control via sterile male release). The five companies shared a common stand in front of approximately 180,000 visitors, including 14,000 startups and 3,600 investors from around the world.
Four Years of Proven Results
'This is the fourth consecutive year that the Region has accompanied Reunionese entrepreneurs to VivaTech,' the regional authority notes. Since 2023, 18 Reunionese startups have benefited from this support — several going on to raise millions of euros. VivaTech has become the island ecosystem's primary window onto investors and markets that are otherwise out of reach from the Indian Ocean.
The simultaneous presence of six Indian Ocean startups at this edition — including one from Mauritius and one from Madagascar — confirms that the region is beginning to collectively assert itself on the international tech stage. Réunion holds structural advantages: international fibre connectivity, a time zone bridging Europe and Asia, and a growing French-speaking digital workforce.
A Model That Scales
La Réunion Innovation, French Tech Réunion and the Chamber of Commerce now support local startups through a proven model: rigorous selection, intensive coaching and exposure at high-impact international trade shows. The targeted sectors — AI, cybersecurity, smart cities and biotech — directly address the digital transformation needs of the Indian Ocean region.
Why It Matters
For an island where unemployment remains high, every startup that raises funds or signs an international contract creates skilled, local and non-exportable jobs. Eighteen companies supported in four years, several million euros raised: Réunion proves that innovation can be born and thrive 9,000 kilometres from Paris — and that the Indian Ocean has its own champions.
