From 28 September to 6 October 2026, Tanzania ran its most ambitious pitch to European capital. Three investment roadshows — in Finland, Italy and the Netherlands (with a stop in Belgium) — showcased a bankable pipeline of **68 projects** totalling **$30.1 billion**, according to TanzaniaInvest. The exercise sets the stage for the EU-Tanzania Investment and Business Forum scheduled for early 2027.

### Five sectors to build tomorrow's economy

The selected projects span five sectors: three priority ones — **agriculture and agro-industry, critical mineral value chains, digital innovation and fintech** — and two enablers: renewable energy, and transport and logistics.

Graphite deposits (Mahenge, Nachu, Epanko), nickel, cobalt and the Ngualla rare earths complex feature prominently in the critical minerals pillar — a direct response to European demand for battery and clean-energy inputs. In agriculture, coffee is central: nearly **40% of Tanzania's output is already exported to Europe**.

### The EU commits €156 million

Alongside the deal flow, the European Union announced a fresh package of **€156 million** for Tanzania. Targets are concrete: over **300 European investors** engaged, more than **250 business meetings**, at least **15 projects under due diligence** within three months, and more than **6 MoUs or letters of intent**.

### Tanga port: TZS 429 billion to quadruple capacity

On the infrastructure front, Tanzania invested over **TZS 429 billion** in the expansion of Tanga port, boosting annual freight capacity from 0.75 to **3 million metric tonnes**. A new 300-metre berth is under construction, fully funded by the Tanzanian government.

### Why it matters

Tanzania is no longer merely a regional player — it is positioning itself as a must-visit destination for green and critical capital. With GDP growth projected at **6.1%** by the World Bank for 2026, a TZS 2.87 trillion transport budget and an aggressive economic diplomacy, Dar es Salaam is sending a clear message to Indian Ocean and African investors: the window is open.
