**From 26 to 29 July 2026, Mauritius hosts the 18th edition of the US-Africa Business Summit — the flagship forum of the Corporate Council on Africa and the U.S. Embassy. It is the first time the summit is held in the Indian Ocean. A milestone for the island, now formally positioned as the "gateway for doing business in Africa" for American companies.**

## A historic summit for Mauritius

The US-Africa Business Summit is the primary forum connecting the American private sector with African decision-makers. Since 1993, the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) — a coalition of more than 175 U.S. companies active across Africa — has organised the event in rotating African cities. For its 18th edition, it has chosen **Mont Choisy Le Golf, Grand Baie, Mauritius**.

The choice is deliberate. Mauritius consistently ranks among Africa's most competitive and investment-friendly economies. Its financial services platform, bilateral investment agreements, and connection to major intercontinental submarine cables make it a natural base for companies seeking to operate at continental scale.

## Four days of deals, networking and policy

Over four days, the summit will bring together business leaders and government officials from around the world for networking sessions, commercial agreements, and public-policy discussions. The central theme: positioning Africa as a leading trade and investment partner for the United States at a time when global supply chains are being restructured.

The U.S. Embassy in Mauritius has highlighted the summit's aim to « facilitate business transactions between U.S. and African enterprises ». The presence of delegations from across sub-Saharan Africa — including from the Indian Ocean region — gives local economic players a rare window of international visibility.

## Mauritius as the Indian Ocean's strategic pivot

The CCA's decision to hold this summit in Mauritius confirms the island's trajectory: a financial and logistics hub that positions itself not just as a destination, but as a *starting point* for investments into continental Africa. The recently signed EU Economic Partnership Agreement, the America-India Connect submarine cable, and a stable credit rating all reinforce this positioning.

For businesses from Réunion, Madagascar, the Seychelles, and the Comoros, this summit is a window of opportunity. American investors in attendance will be looking for local relays: distributors, logistics operators, and financial partners with regional reach.

## Why it matters

By hosting the US-Africa Business Summit, Mauritius sends a clear signal to the global business community: the Indian Ocean is at the centre of the next cycle of American investment in Africa. For regional companies, the four days of the summit represent a unique chance to forge strategic partnerships with some of the best-capitalised players from the Americas.
