**A new captain for Mauritius' investment flagship.** Geerja Shankar Rajah Ramdaursingh officially took office as Chief Executive Officer of Mauritius' Economic Development Board (EDB) on September 7, 2026, succeeding Mahen Kundasamy.

## A Profile Built for International Markets

Holding GOSK and FCA (Fellow Chartered Accountant) designations, Rajah Ramdaursingh brings **four decades of experience** in domestic and international investment and finance. His career spans banking, private equity and corporate finance. He notably contributed to establishing and managing private equity funds listed on both the London Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) — a rare dual expertise in the region.

His compensation as EDB CEO is set at **MUR 850,000 per month** (approximately €17,500), in line with equivalent roles across strategic parastatal organisations on the island.

## The EDB at a Pivotal Moment

The EDB is the central pillar of Mauritius' economic attractiveness. It orchestrates the national strategy for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), supports foreign companies setting up in Mauritius, and steers negotiations on key trade agreements — including the EU-ESA EPA, finalised earlier this year.

Mauritius faces a nuanced moment: while tourism and financial services remain solid, the announced closure of Concentrix — threatening 320 jobs — underscored the vulnerability of the BPO model in the face of automation. Ramdaursingh arrives as the island seeks to move upmarket, attracting more regional headquarters, family offices and African fintech players.

## Why It Matters

An EDB appointment always sends a signal to global investors. With a profile rooted in capital markets and private equity, Ramdaursingh could accelerate Mauritius' positioning as a regional hub for African private capital — consistent with the national Fintech Strategy 2026-2030.
