**From December 6 to 9, 2026, the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre (SVICC) in Mauritius will host the 18th US-Africa Business Summit, the flagship annual event organised by the Corporate Council on Africa. With over 2,800 participants expected, 60+ countries represented, and billions in deals on the table, this is the world's largest US-Africa business forum — and Mauritius has won the right to host it.**

## Why Mauritius?

The choice is anything but coincidental. Mauritius is the only African nation with double taxation avoidance treaties with the majority of the world's major economies, an investment-grade credit rating maintained by Moody's, a regional stock exchange (the SEM), and an offshore financial sector that channels a significant share of investment flows toward India and sub-Saharan Africa. For the Corporate Council on Africa, Mauritius embodies exactly what the summit aims to represent: a bridge between America, Africa, and emerging markets.

The 2025 summit generated over $4 billion in concluded agreements, announced partnerships, and investment commitments. The Mauritius edition aims to exceed that benchmark at a time when the United States is actively seeking to strengthen its economic footprint on a continent being courted by China, the UAE, and the European Union.

## Sectors to Watch

Financial services, ICT, renewable energy, the blue economy, manufacturing, and tourism are at the heart of the expected agenda. Mauritius is particularly well-positioned on the first three: its fintech sector just launched a National Fintech Strategy 2026-2030, and its ICT operators already serve clients across the African continent.

## A Ripple Effect Across the Indian Ocean

An event of this scale doesn't benefit Mauritius alone. The investor delegations flying in to attend will discover a region — Réunion, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros, Kenya — whose combined potential is consistently underestimated. Organisers have incorporated Indian Ocean-focused sessions into the programme, recognising the region's role as a geopolitical and economic gateway.

## Why It Matters

Hosting the world's largest American-African business forum is an international validation of the Mauritian model. More practically, every deal signed at the summit can translate into jobs, subsidiaries, contracts, and capital flows across the entire region. For business leaders across the Indian Ocean, December 2026 in Mauritius is a date to lock in now.
