**The Moris-Mada Business Connect 2026 summit brought together 500 entrepreneurs and economic actors from both countries in Antananarivo on 13 and 14 August, under the patronage of Malagasy Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison. Around 250 companies represented, 10 delegations, and one clear message: transform bilateral trade into lasting investment.**

## A Forum Coming of Age

Co-organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mauritius-Madagascar (CCimm), the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Madagascar (FCCim) and the African and Indian Ocean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (AIOCCI), the summit held its sessions at the CCI Ivato over two days of intensive B2B meetings. Three cross-sector collaborations were reportedly being formalised at the event's close.

## Mauritius as a Gateway to Africa

The Mauritian delegation presented a clear offer: share its economic development expertise and facilitate Madagascar's access to established African markets. As a regional financial hub with 23 double taxation agreements and a robust banking network, Mauritius can serve as an intermediary for Malagasy investors seeking to expand across the continent.

## Madagascar: A Market Not to Miss

The Great Island is projecting 6% growth in 2026 according to international financial institutions, with significant untapped potential in agriculture, mining, and tourism. For Mauritian operators, the Malagasy market represents a natural expansion opportunity just 800 kilometres from Port-Louis. « The strengthening of commercial and industrial ties between Madagascar and Mauritius should contribute to economic development across the Indian Ocean space », declared a CCimm representative.

## Why It Matters

This type of bilateral forum is rare in the region and signals a new maturity in inter-island economic relations. If the three announced collaborations translate into concrete projects, Moris-Mada 2026 will have set a precedent for a more structured economic integration between the islands of the Indian Ocean.
