The 15th Indian Ocean Islands Economic Forum (FEIOI) was held from 27 to 29 April 2026 in Moroni, Comoros. Madagascar presented its regional development model and secured the right to host the 16th edition in 2027, under the auspices of the Antananarivo Chamber of Commerce and Industry — a symbolic handover that consecrates Madagascar's rising influence in the region's economic governance.

## Moroni at the Heart of Regional Synergies

Held under the patronage of Comorian President Azali Assoumani, the forum brought together regional chambers of commerce around four themes: inter-island trade, sustainable agriculture and biodiversity, standards and quality, and climate change adaptation. Artificial intelligence and marine biotechnologies also featured on the agenda.

The Malagasy delegation — led by CCI France Madagascar, the Antananarivo Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Board of Madagascar — presented the island's regional development model. CCIFM joined the Cap Business Indian Ocean network and participated in its first General Assembly.

## Madagascar Rising

The forum's most strategic announcement: Madagascar will host the 16th FEIOI edition in 2027, a symbolic handover aligned with the country's upward revision of its 2026 growth forecast from 4.8% to 6%. The FEIOI network spans 121 chambers across 98 countries, making it one of the Indian Ocean's most significant economic gatherings.

## Why It Matters

The FEIOI is more than a networking event: it is one of the few spaces where Indian Ocean island economies collectively define shared priorities — standards, value chains, regional integration. Madagascar's dual rise — in economic growth and regional leadership — is reshaping the archipelago's balance of power at a pivotal moment.
