La Région Réunion has strengthened its flagship business support scheme. It added €3 million to the Prêt Relance, raising its own contribution to €7 million. With BPI France's 3.5× leverage, total capacity now reaches €24.5 million, up from an initial €14 million.

Launched in November 2024, the scheme had nearly exhausted its initial capacity: by 30 June 2026, 148 companies had received loans totalling €13.54 million — around 97% of the original envelope.

## Designed for very small businesses

The profile of beneficiaries reflects Réunion's economic fabric: 116 of 148 companies — 78% — have fewer than 11 employees. The average loan amount is €91,500, ranging from €20,000 to €300,000.

The most represented sectors are trade and vehicle repair (39 companies, €2.96m), construction (24 companies, €2.35m) and manufacturing (20 companies, €2.33m). Together these three sectors account for more than €7.65 million in loans.

Geographically, the West leads (64 companies), ahead of the South (45), North (28) and East (11).

## Accessible without guarantees

The loan requires no personal guarantee or real security — rare in conventional banking. It funds tangible and intangible investments, and working capital linked to an investment programme. Two application channels exist: online (92 applications) and via BPI France branches (56 applications), the latter being mandatory above €50,000.

## Why it matters

In Réunion, micro and small businesses make up the vast majority of the economic fabric. This type of scheme is structurally vital. As commercial banks tighten lending criteria, the Prêt Relance plays an essential counter-cyclical role. Its expansion shows that demand far exceeded initial expectations.
