The French Tech Mission has officially granted Réunion the **French Tech Capital label for 2026-2028**. This recognition connects the island to the national innovation network, opening access to national acceleration programmes, metropolitan investment funds, and international partnerships through the global French Tech network.

## A Réunion pavilion at VivaTech 2026

As a concrete sign of this recognition, **five Réunion startups** were showcased at VivaTech 2026 under a regional pavilion co-financed by the Regional Council of Réunion. Among the companies featured, **AgentVox** stands out with an AI-powered conversational agents solution: the technology « automates complete business processes by managing end-to-end customer interactions », and remains accessible without an app or internet connection, deliberately targeting under-digitised populations across the Indian Ocean.

## A tech ecosystem taking shape

The French Tech Capital 2026-2028 label is part of a broader effort to structure Réunion's tech ecosystem. It marks the culmination of years of work to connect local startups with national investment networks, universities and public institutions, and to position Réunion as a digital bridgehead between the Indian Ocean and Africa.

The label also opens the door to enhanced cooperation with Mauritius, Madagascar and the Comoros, where demand for digital solutions adapted to local realities (low connectivity, multilingual) remains very strong.

## Why it matters

In a region where the digital divide remains a structural drag on growth, Réunion's recognition as an innovation hub is a strategic signal. For Indian Ocean entrepreneurs, it means easier access to French and European capital — and for investors, a secure entry point into the African tech market.
