**The French state is stepping up its support for innovation in Réunion.** An additional **€2.4 million** has just been allocated to Réunion Island under the "France 2030 Régionalisé" programme, in partnership with the Réunion Regional Council and Bpifrance. This budget boost comes alongside the launch of two new calls for projects: one focused on breakthrough innovation, the other on developing high-potential local industries.

## A Programme Built to Anchor Innovation on the Island

France 2030 Régionalisé is a regional version of the major national investment plan launched by the French government. In Réunion, it aims to fund innovative projects led by local businesses in strategic sectors: digital technology, sustainable agriculture, the blue economy, energy transition and green industry.

The programme's extension into 2026, with this additional envelope, comes as the island shows a fragile economic recovery. Unemployment remains structurally high — around 18% — and public decision-makers are seeking every lever to diversify the local economy beyond tourism and retail.

## Two Concrete Calls for Projects

The first call targets breakthrough innovations capable of creating new industries or deeply transforming existing sectors. It is aimed primarily at Réunion's SMEs and mid-sized companies that can present a solid development plan, with an emphasis on regional exports to Indian Ocean, East African and Indo-Pacific markets.

The second call concerns existing high-potential industries: agri-food, sustainable fishing, creative industries and digital technology. Bpifrance acts as a co-funder and advisor, with subsidy rates of up to 45% for eligible project holders.

## A Signal for the Local Ecosystem

This announcement comes weeks ahead of the major innovation day organised by Réunion's Chamber of Commerce, and fits into a sequence of positive signals for local entrepreneurs: the Choose Outre-mer plan, the "Acte II de la Nouvelle Économie", and now this France 2030 reinforcement. Together, these instruments sketch out a productive economy support policy that breaks from the pure social transfer logic of the past.

## Why It Matters

€2.4 million won't transform an economy overnight. But the signal matters. **Réunion's most agile businesses must seize this public funding** as a co-investment lever to accelerate their projects, win regional contracts and move upmarket. In a context where private capital remains scarce on the island, every well-directed public euro can unlock several more in private investment.
