On **11-12 May 2026**, Nairobi hosted the Africa Forward 2026 Summit — the first forum to simultaneously bring together more than **30 African heads of state** and the French President in a framework extended to the entire continent, beyond the traditional Francophone sphere. More than **1,500 participants** at the Business Forum worked across seven major themes to unlock capital, innovation, and pan-African trade.

## Nairobi: Hub of a New Continental Partnership

The choice of Nairobi — East Africa's economic capital and home to numerous international organizations — is symbolic. It signals a move beyond the historic Franco-African framework to embrace the full breadth of continental dynamics. The KICC (Kenyatta International Convention Centre) and the University of Nairobi hosted the plenary sessions and thematic workshops.

## Seven Pillars for Tomorrow's Africa

The Summit's work was structured around seven themes: **energy transition and green industrialization**, **reform of the international financial architecture**, the **blue economy**, **sustainable agriculture**, **artificial intelligence and digital technologies**, **resilient health systems**, and **peace and security**. Each theme generated concrete commitments between governments, investors, and entrepreneurs.

## Business Forum: 1,500 Leaders, Concrete B2B Deals

The Business Forum running in parallel with the political Summit mobilized **1,500 business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors**. The objective: to turn discussions into transactions. The model echoes the Africa-France Forum in Abidjan, but in an unprecedented multilateral, pan-African configuration.

## Why It Matters

Africa Forward 2026 marks an inflection in the continent's economic geopolitics: Africa is now negotiating collectively, with a more unified voice. For Indian Ocean countries — Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, Seychelles — represented in delegations, it was an opportunity to advance their specific interests (blue economy, SIDS, climate finance) before an audience of 30 heads of state.
