Nigerian fintech Kredete has acquired Gravv, a stablecoin infrastructure platform processing **$3 billion** in annualised volume. The deal, disclosed in late September 2026, positions Kredete as one of the most ambitious players in African money transfers, with **6.5 million users** and a payment volume approaching **$18 billion per year**.

## Kredete: the bank for African diasporas

Founded in 2022 by Adeola Adedewe, Kredete serves African diaspora and immigrant communities. The platform enables cross-border transfers, credit history building in the host country and access to stablecoin-powered financial products. With 6.5 million active users, Kredete already processes approximately $18 billion per year — a volume comparable to several major African banks.

## Gravv: the stablecoin infrastructure behind large transfers

Gravv is the technical backbone for moving money across borders. It manages multi-currency accounts, foreign exchange services, liquidity, payments, stablecoin settlement and transaction reconciliation. Before the acquisition, Gravv processed $3 billion in annualised volume for more than **1,000 businesses** across more than **100 countries**, backed by 7 global banking partnerships.

By internalising this infrastructure, Kredete gains direct control over transaction routing and settlement, reducing reliance on external providers and sharpening its pricing competitiveness.

## Why it matters

African diasporas transfer tens of billions of dollars to their home continent every year — flows that often exceed official development aid. Kredete and Gravv represent the new generation of fintechs attacking excessive fees and slow traditional wire transfers, using stablecoins to make remittances instant and cheaper. For Réunionnais, Mauritian or Malagasy communities living abroad, this kind of infrastructure is a concrete promise of meaningful savings on their money transfers home.
