**The Africa Business Investment Summit (ABIS) 2026 takes place on 27–28 August in Washington DC, showcasing a $4 billion pipeline of African projects to US institutional investors. It marks a strategic shift at a time when the continent is actively courting capital beyond its traditional partners.**

## A $4 billion pipeline

Organised by the Millennium Excellence Foundation at MGM National Harbor, ABIS 2026 brings together project sponsors from key sectors — infrastructure, mining, natural resources, agriculture, manufacturing, technology and energy — for direct meetings with private equity and private credit funds, family offices and multilateral development institutions. Curated deal rooms and sector-focused sessions aim to convert presentations into binding commitments, far beyond the usual summit rhetoric.

## High-profile voices

Among the headline speakers is His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Ashantis of Ghana, who is personally pitching the "Real Wakanda" project — a tech and industrial hub — to American capital. Ghana's Vice-President H.E. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Sand Technologies founder Fred Swaniker, and Fearless Fund co-founder Arian Simone are also on the programme for these two landmark days.

## Why it matters

Against a backdrop of shifting global economic alliances, an African summit bringing $4 billion of projects directly to Washington marks a strategic shift in posture: Africa is no longer waiting for capital to come to it — it is courting capital on its own ground. For Indian Ocean investors, tracking the sectors that attract commitments — energy, infrastructure, agri-tech — offers a valuable read on medium-term regional trends.
